Choose Orthos Monolithic Over Block Filter Underdrains

Block Filter Underdrains

Say NO to floor failures!

Why is it that people design and install Orthos’ nozzle-based monolithic underdrain systems over block systems from Leopold, Roberts, WesTech, and De Nora?

Orthos has NEVER had a monolithic underdrain failure. Not once. Ever.

Orthos is installed in 200 downflow filters, some with almost 20 years of service. Orthos is also installed in thousands of retrofitted downflow and pressure vessel filters in North America.

At the end of the filter’s life cycle, in contrast to a complete block underdrain overhaul, nozzles are simply replaced as the monolithic floor remains part of the civil structure.

“No need to replace the chandelier when all you have to do is change the bulbs!”

Because of our nozzle back pressure design and that air and water moves freely under the monolithic floor, distribution is repeatedly exceptional, resulting in optimal media cleaning and long-lasting structural integrity.

Each of our over million long-lived nozzle products are specifically offered for the particular filter application. Unlike competition that force-fit one of a few available nozzle products, the ability of Orthos to injection-mold nozzles provides the proper nozzle configuration to meet specific performance requirements

“Filters are what we do,” states Stuart Humphries, Director of Municipal Sales and Marketing. “Mega-companies are jack-of-all-trades; however, nozzle-based filtration is and will continue to be Orthos’ core technology.  Our industry-leading design experience and desire for innovation keep Orthos at the forefront of downflow filtration technology.

Remember Orthos’ HUGE life cycle cost benefits– At the end of the filter’s life cycle (~25 years), in contrast to a complete plastic block or folded sheet metal underdrain overhaul, nozzles are simply replaced
potentially saving $Millions.
