Efficient Aeration for Iron Oxidation and Gas Removal

Zephyr™ Forced Draft and Induced Draft Aerators provide an effective and economical solution for removing dissolved gases and oxidizing iron from raw water sources, typically groundwater. The process flows air and water counter-currently through specially designed packing. This maximizes contact between air and small water droplets for effective oxidation and gas removal.

Built for longevity, Zephyr™ Aerators feature aluminum or stainless steel vessels and few moving parts. The design ensures low maintenance and high reliability, making it a trusted solution for municipal and industrial water treatment facilities.

Zephyr™ Aerators Key Benefits

How it Works: Induced Draft Aerator

The Induced Draft Aerator uses a suction fan mounted at the top of the vessel to pull air upward through the system.

  • Air enters through an intake screen near the bottom of the aerator.
  • It passes upward through the packing (slats), moisture eliminator, and fan assembly before exiting through a protective cap.
  • Water enters near the top of the aerator, disperses evenly across the cross-sectional area, and cascades downward as fine droplets.
  • The counter-current flow of air and water promotes efficient iron oxidation and removal of hydrogen sulfide and other dissolved gases.

How it Works: Forced Draft Aerator

The Forced Draft Aerator follows a similar process to the Induced Draft model, but with one key difference.

  • A blower mounted beside the aerator vessel pushes screened air into the bottom of the unit.
  • The air travels up through the slats and the moisture eliminator before venting through a screened protective cap.
  • Water enters at the top and flows downward through the slats as small droplets. This promotes excellent gas exchange and oxidation.

This configuration delivers uniform airflow, consistent performance, and high operational efficiency.
